Ireland’s first Women in Tech Awards to be powered by Dublin Tech Summit

Recognising and celebrating Ireland’s Female Tech Leaders is an important action in working towards closing the gender gap within technology sectors.

The Women in Tech Awards programme, powered by Dublin Tech Summit, is Ireland’s foremost event dedicated to recognising the innovation, leadership and achievements of women in Ireland’s tech landscape.

The top two issues cited as barriers to advancement by women in tech are lack of mentors and lack of female role models in the field.

The Women in Tech Awards programme aims to address head on the subject of female role models.

“If you can’t see it, you can’t be it.”

Only through promoting role models and showcasing achievements can we encourage the next generation to engage with STEM subjects, and address the gender imbalance in the tech industry. It’s time to shine a spotlight on the women who are industry influencers and amplify their voices.

“Dublin Tech Summit as an ever-growing technology event and platform recognises the importance of not only promoting female tech leaders achievements but also the urgency to continuously support women in tech from day one of their careers.
We [DTS] are eager to launch The Women in Tech Awards this April and introduce our audience to our Women in Tech Awards ambassadors as we continue to expand our support and showcasing of the incredible work being done by women in tech across the island of Ireland.” – Dublin Tech Summit

Technology empowers us all to live in a more sophisticated world, yet the tech industry, like many others, is still on a journey to a place where there is gender parity. The Women in Tech Awards celebrates diversity in this vibrant industry and aims to promote a constructive dialogue among key industry leaders and influencers.

As a renowned tech hub, Dublin and Ireland must lead the way, recognising female tech talent from all strata of the tech ecosystem: global tech giants that have made their home in Silicon Docks, innovative start-ups, and the university and research domains.

Launching at DTS this April and taking place in November 2018, the Women in Tech Awards Programme is proudly powered by Dublin Tech Summit.
