Daily life at MasterCard, testimony of Gary Lawson

At the time that I joined Mastercard in 2015, as a stand-alone Talent professional in the Dublin office, there were less than 100 employees. Fast forward seven years and we’ve grown that number to 950 staff. We’ve recently opened the doors to our new European Tech Hub and we expect to increase our headcount to over 2000 people by 2025.

Upon joining the company, I was immediately struck by our welcoming culture. There was a real sense of purpose, community, and autonomy to develop and make an impact.  What amazes me today is that not only do those values still ring true, but we continue to be laser focussed on our commitment to grow our capabilities, people and employee experiences here in Dublin.

So where is this hypergrowth leading us and how does it impact our work? Our newest building – One South County – was developed with the idea of marrying form and function. The design is beautiful, but more importantly it’s functional for a modern, innovative tech company – with the ability to collaborate with visiting teams from other locations, providing flexibility post-pandemic. Our learnings over the last two years around hybrid working environments was very much front-of-mind as we designed Mastercard’s newest European Tech Hub. Employees are seated in “neighbourhoods” that align not necessarily with their teams, but with whom they’re collaborating with that day. Our neighbourhood strategy allows us to get teams together in one location, which is critical for high-functioning product and engineering teams. In other words, we’re providing a workplace for people to achieve their fullest potential — where technology helps enable human connections that are the foundation for trust and collaboration.

We are futurists, a team of designers, data scientists, developers, engineers, marketers, technologists, researchers focused on changing and shaping the future using cutting-edge technologies.  As I approach my seven-year anniversary now more than ever I’m passionate and excited to work at Mastercard. It’s an innovative company where you can engage and immerse yourself in future technologies such as crypto, the cloud, the metaverse, WEB3, 5G, Quantum Computing, blockchain, cyber. We’re dedicated to developing breakthrough products, platforms, and services that will improve peoples’ lives.

It’s also an inspiring company where employees’ wellbeing and careers are at the heart of all that we do.

If you are talented with a global mindset and are excited about working with future-forward, cutting-edge technologies, then Mastercard Dublin could be the place for you. Visit https://mastercard.jobs/irl/jobs/ for the latest roles.
