“I think my favourite place in Ireland has to be Co. Kerry, the Ring of Kerry to be precise. I love to stay near Sneem and visit the towns of Killarney and Kenmare, the people really are a different breed of friendliness down there! If you get lucky and the weather is nice then pack a picnic and head to Derrynane or Cahirsiveen beach for the day – they would rival the best in the world! There is hiking, cycling, historic sights and just loads to do and I have spent many summer holidays there over the years.
Having said that though, if you are pressed for time and looking for day trips out of Dublin then Co. Wicklow is the place for you. Visit Powerscourt Estate, Glendalough, hike the Wicklow Mountains around Lough Dan and stop off in Roundwood village for a coffee or bite to eat in Roundwood Stores.”
“When I get the time to meet friends you can’t beat the Real Dublin vibes in the Swan Bar on Aungier Street where the quality of the Guinness is hard to beat.
Food-wise, Hang Dai, on Camden street has been my favourite restaurant for a while now. It’s Chinese food but at the highest standard you will ever experience. Once the clocks turn 9 pm the restaurant turns into a nightclub hosting local and international DJs on a custom-built vinyl Sound system.
Hang Dai got a bit of a name for itself and has welcomed everyone from LCD Soundsystem to Irvine Welsh and more recently was listed by Far Out Magazine as one of the Top 10 audiophile bars in the world.”
“My fondest memories of Dublin growing up is heading to Howth on a summer’s day. Starting off the day with a dip in Burrow beach, and walking over to the Howth weekend markets to have a look and then ending the day sitting on the pier with a scampi and chips from Beshoffs. Walking to the end of Howth pier gives beautiful views of the village as well as the stunning shoreline along the Howth Head cliffs. Don’t forget to grab a pint – there’s nothing like a cold pint for the ultimate conclusion to your day out. The Bloody Stream is a great shout for just that. You can always expect to have a nice day in Howth, it never disappoints!
You also can’t beat renting a bike in Phoenix Park and bringing a picnic along with you and cycling to the pope’s cross to sit down and enjoy it, if you’re lucky you’ll get to see the wild deer in the park.”
“I think my best memories of Dublin all include taking a walk down a busy O’connell street, browsing the shops and listening to the ambience of Buskers and Busy streets. There’s a lot of Irish Culture around every corner of Dublin and it’s nice when you find something new. Another favourite way to spend my free time would be taking the DART along the coast to places like Dalkey, Killiney and finishing in my Glorious hometown of Bray. Whether its a nice restaurant or a cultured pint, Bray has it all.”
“Some of my favourite things about Ireland is heading down to Sutton Beach or Gorey in County Wexford during the Summer months. This bliss of relaxing with your friends on a beach or heading to a beer garden in the City Center is the summary of a perfect day.
I enjoy exploring the city centre as there are always new and interesting things to see at every turn. If you are looking for a day filled with culture, history and most certainly the ‘craic’ head to the temple bar where you will find everything from traditional Irish pubs and restaurants, shopping and museums.”
